What began as a simple radio prank created for April Fool's Day in 1987, is now forever woven into the folklore of Northern Michigan.

Six versions of the song have been created over the past 30 years. Two feature length movies have been produced. The dogman has also inspired countless books, plays, drama and folklore courses in high schools and universities, restaurant foods, adult beverages, and much more.

In addition, proceeds from merchandise sales have raised over $70,000 dollars for local humane societies and  animal rescue charities.
